Mardi Folks, BS Ed, MSW
Mardi has 40 years experience as a dedicated teacher and specialized tutor for kindergarten, elementary and middle school students, with an emphasis in special education. Her additional interests in early childhood education have reinforced the significance of early intervention for improved remediation of specific learning differences. Over the years, Mardi has worked extensively with students affected by a variety of educational challenges, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory and visual processing as well as attention issues. She is an experienced Barton Reading and Spelling tutor, having successfully helped struggling readers for the past 13 years close the gap to gain grade level reading skills. In addition to her teaching career, Mardi served in numerous volunteer positions at Poway schools, in the classroom and in leadership roles, all while raising her family.
