Screening and Evaluation
Our screening service helps identify the hallmark signs of dyslexia, dysgraphia, and similar learning disabilities. We use a combination of family and developmental history, academic records review, and a variety of assessment tools to determine the likely source of the student’s academic struggles. This comprehensive screening helps inform parents’ next steps and provides recommendations for an academic learning plan and necessary accommodations.
Parent and Family Support
The educators at Enlighten Learning Resource, Inc. are parents and teachers of children with learning issues. We relate to the overwhelming feelings parents face. Parents of children with learning differences often need help and guidance at different stages of their student’s academic career. We offer information workshops, parent support forums, IEP review, development and advocacy, access to books and other informational resources.
Tutoring
Our educators use the Barton Reading and Spelling System to help students reach and maintain reading and spelling proficiency, regardless of age or grade. After a thorough screening session, our staff recommends a consistent tutoring schedule suited to your student’s specific needs. We keep you apprised of progress every step of the way, and recommend methods to reinforce tutoring concepts in the classroom and at home. The goal is to build consistent progress in reading, writing and spelling.
Organization Skills Development
Does your student routinely misplace things, forget chores or multiple step directions, or keeps the backpack, desk or bedroom in complete disarray? Students with learning disabilities often struggle with organization. Enlighten Learning Resource, Inc. provides strategies to help students keep their school supplies, back pack, and living spaces structured and clutter free. The ultimate goal is to provide the student with the independent skills and tools necessary to improve time management, multi-step directional processing, and ultimately, academic and professional success.
